The Biggest Risk I’ve Ever Taken… My First CNC

This is a huge new chapter for Retro Fabworks. We’re stepping into the world of CNC machining with our first CNC mill — @tormachinc 770MX.
In this video, we take the 770MX from a machine sitting in a crate to actually making our first CNC machined part. We go through the installation and setup, get familiar with the machine and Tormach PathPilot, set up the tooling and probing system, learn the basics of operating a CNC mill, and eventually make our very first part.
I’ve spent years fabricating, welding, designing, and figuring out how to build things with the tools I had available. CNC machining has always been one of those skills I wanted to learn, and bringing this machine into the shop opens an entirely new world of what we can design and build ourselves.

You don’t have to know everything before you start. Sometimes you just have to be willing to learn something completely new, make mistakes, and keep moving forward.
