Sprayed Mortar on a 3D Print…and it worked?!? #maker #diy

I tried something a little crazy: spraying actual (Watered DOWN) mortar onto a 3D print to get a realistic stone finish. At first, it looked like a total disaster… but once it dried? The results were actually incredible.

In this video, I’m using a mortar and water mix through an HVLP spray gun to coat a 3D printed Hercules bust. If you’re tired of that “plastic” look on your prints, this might be the ultimate hack—as long as you don’t mind a little mess! Sure it could use some find tunimg, but I’ll need some crowdsourced help on this part…

Tools used in this video:
Coating: VersaBond Fortified Thin-Set Mortar
Equipment: HVLP Spray Gun & Makita Drill with mixer
