Precise CNC Machine Cuts Joints into Log Beams #worker #process #woodworking #cnc #carpentry
## 1. Project Overview
This video shows a CNC cutting machine milling joints into heavy log beams, so that each notch is cut to exact size and the beams slot together without gaps when the building is assembled.
## 2. Materials and Equipment
– Debarked log beams
– CNC timber joinery machine
– Milling and saw cutters
– Beam infeed and outfeed rollers
– Joint drawings or machine program
## 3. Work Procedure
The log is loaded onto the infeed rollers and clamped, and the machine measures its position. Following the program, the cutter head moves along and around the beam, milling each notch, lap and tenon to the depth and angle in the drawing. Chips are cleared as it works so the cut stays clean. When the last joint is done, the beam is moved out, labelled with its position in the building, and the next one is loaded.
## 4. Importance of the Task
In log and timber frame buildings, joints carry the load and keep the walls tight against wind and weather. Hand cutting each notch is slow, and small errors add up along a wall. A CNC machine repeats the drawing exactly, so the frame goes together quickly on site and the joints close without gaps that would let in draughts.
## 5. Guideline Compliance & Educational Purpose
This video is shared strictly for educational and informational purposes to demonstrate a timber machining process. The work is performed by trained operators in a controlled factory environment. The machine enclosure must stay closed during cutting, and heavy beams must only be moved with proper lifting equipment. Viewers should always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), never reach into operating machinery, and should not attempt any task beyond their training and experience.
