In this shop tour, we visit G.J. Oliver in Phillipsburg, New Jersey—a family-run company specializing in massive machining, custom steel fabrication, equipment repair, and engineered systems.

Founded in 1960, G.J. Oliver has grown into an approximately 80-person operation capable of handling nearly every stage of a project on its 22-acre campus.

Inside, we see enormous CNC bridge mills, VTLs, horizontal boring mills, pump casings, impellers, compressor components, nuclear work, and fabricated assemblies. One machine has a 128,000-pound table, while another offers roughly 47 feet of travel.

G.J. Oliver can engineer, fabricate, weld, heat-treat, machine, inspect, test, sandblast, paint, and assemble critical equipment at one location. Its work supports power generation, nuclear, petrochemical, wastewater, oil and gas, and other demanding industries.

This is American heavy manufacturing on a scale you rarely get to see.
