Is this the best way to engrave 3D coins? #laserengraving #tutorial
3D brass coin engraving with a 100W fiber laser using a depth map created with Laser Image Forge.

For this test I generated the depth-map artwork with Laser Image Forge, then brought it into LightBurn Pro and used 3D Sliced engraving with a cleanup pass.
Main 3D engraving settings shown in the video:
Speed: 2600 mm/s
Max Power: 65%
Min Power: 10%
Frequency: 70 kHz
Q-Pulse Width: 200 ns
Line Interval: 0.0300 mm
Resolution: 847 DPI
Scan Angle: 45°
Angle Increment: 15°
Passes: 460
Dot Width: 0.080 mm
Image Mode: 3D Sliced
Cleanup settings:
Speed: 3500 mm/s
Power: 35%
Frequency: 80 kHz
Q-Pulse Width: 200 ns
Line Interval: 0.0500 mm
Lines Per Inch: 508
Scan Angle: 30°
Clean After: 10 passes
Angle Increment: 10°
Cross-Hatch: On
Auto-Rotate: On
Clean Whole Image: On
These are the settings used for this particular test on my 100W fiber laser. Treat them as a reference rather than universal settings because results will vary by laser source, lens, material, focus, artwork, and machine.
I’m testing more depth-map and 3D relief engraving workflows using Laser Image Forge, including different pass counts and processing methods.
If you want to see the full workflow from depth map → LightBurn → fiber laser → finished coin, subscribe and follow the next tests.
