Ice Cube in Space: Does It Melt, Freeze Harder, or Vanish? #Sublimation #shorts
What really happens to an ice cube floating in the vacuum of space? It doesn’t settle into a puddle, because liquid water can’t last at such low pressure. Instead, heated ice turns straight into vapor through sublimation, a process that uses up heat and can make the remaining ice colder as it shrinks. How long the cube survives depends on its size, temperature and sunlight: in cold, dark places like shadowed lunar craters, ice may last billions of years.
