I Didn’t Expect THIS From a Budget CNC… Lunyee 3020 Nova Review
I didn’t expect this level of rigidity, build quality, and cutting performance from the Lunyee 3020 Nova or any desktop CNC machine in this price range.
In this video I take a detailed look at the new Lunyee 3020 Nova CNC, covering assembly, features, build quality, electronics, spindle performance, rigidity, dust collection, and real-world cutting tests in hardwood making a tray with a quarter inch up cut and a roundover bit and a technique to do double sided cnc machining.

I have tested a few similar priced models too. Check out my channel if you are interested in purchasing and I have discounts on many of them.
Compared to the smaller 3018-style hobby CNC machines, this feels like a major step up. The heavy-duty frame, thick linear rails, 12 mm lead screws on every axis, 800W spindle, upgraded electronics, and overall rigidity make this machine feel much more serious than I expected going in.
To really test the machine, I make a double-sided hardwood tray using the included 1/4 inch single flute up-cut bit and a large round-over bit. This project pushes the machine through surfacing, pocketing, finishing passes, alignment techniques, and deep cutouts while testing both precision and cutting performance.
I also go through:
Assembly and setup, spindle and collet system, Z-probe setup, dust collection, workholding, alignment techniques for double-sided CNC machining, real cutting settings and passes and strengths and limitations of smaller desktop CNC machines
If you’d like a dedicated step-by-step video on the tray project itself, including settings, illustrations, tooling, and full workflow, let me know in the comments.
