One of the biggest challenges when repairing vintage computers and games consoles is finding replacement parts that simply aren’t made anymore. In this video I put the Anycubic Kobra X to work on four real retro gaming projects, printing parts that would otherwise be difficult, expensive or impossible to replace.
Rather than producing a traditional “review”, I wanted to see how the Kobra X fitted into my workshop. After quickly building the printer, I used it to print a case for my ColecoVision Super Game Module, a replacement cartridge shell for a forgotten ColecoVision game, a cable port cover for a Sharp Twin Famicom and a disc head alignment jig for the Famicom Disk System.
To finish things off, I also tested the ACE GEN2 multicolour system by printing a multi-colour Ghostbusters logo. The automatic filament switching makes multicolour printing straightforward and demonstrates one of the key features of the Kobra X.
If you enjoy retro gaming, repairing vintage hardware and practical workshop projects, I hope you enjoy the video.
