Fixing the Monport Reno45 Pro Passthrough #3dprinting #laserengraving #co2laser

The front passthrough on my @monportlaser Reno45 Pro Vision works great for oversized material—but removing the factory cover leaves a pretty big opening for smoke and fumes to escape into the shop.

So I decided to fix it.

I designed and 3D printed a modular passthrough cover made up of individual sections that can slide back and forth depending on the width of the material going through the laser. Whether I’m running a wide sheet of acrylic or something much narrower, I can close off most of the unused opening while still using the passthrough.

It’s a simple solution to an annoying problem, and exactly the kind of stuff The Harvey Project is about—figuring things out, trying new ideas, and sharing what I learn along the way.
