CNC machining Inconel is challenging because this nickel‑based superalloy work‑hardens quickly and has low thermal conductivity, which concentrates heat at the cutting edge and accelerates tool wear. Successful machining typically requires very rigid setups, sharp carbide or ceramic tools, lower cutting speeds with higher feeds, and abundant high‑pressure coolant plus optimized toolpaths.
In this video we show you exactly our methods, speeds and feeds, and tips to successfully machine this hardened material on the YCM C10 CNC machine.
