CNC machine a part from two sides: DeskProto’s two-sided wizard makes this an easy task

When you CNC machine a part from two sides, manually flipping the block in-between, the toolpaths for both sides of course need to exactly match. And after flipping the block needs to be correctly positioned and aligned. This video shows an easy way to achieve this, using the ‘two-sided milling wizard’ in the DeskProto CAM software.

After an introduction I start DeskProto and create the NC files, using wizard “Two sides, manual flip”. Next you will (briefly) see all process steps on the CNC machine: clamping the block, machining side 1, flipping the block and machining side 2. Finally the result is shown. This video shows the process using the wizard’s default settings, a next video will show how to use other settings in case needed for your project.
