Bambu Lab R1 Laser Cutter: Testing Its Limits

Bambu Lab expands beyond just making 3D printers as it launches its first dedicated laser cutter, the R1. After testing this 55 watt CO2 laser for a week, we share our experiences cutting thick plywood, engraving large sheets, and making use of the two high resolution cameras inside the laser cutter’s workspace. Here’s where the R1 excels and where we’d like to see refinement in its operation.

Correction: Lightburn support for the R1 has been confirmed to be in the works: “LightBurn will soon release an update that includes the R1 configuration package, and Bambu Lab will also publish official tutorials showing how to set up and use the R1 with LightBurn.”
Disclosure: This product was sent to us by the manufacturer for purposes of review and is not sponsored.
