Auto Centering Probe, Fast Workpiece Alignment &Reliable Repeatability | VMC215 Benchtop CNC Machine
VMC‑215 can be equipped with a 3D Touch Probe for automatic workpiece centering.
No manual handwheel jogging needed. The probe touches the part, captures points and calculates the workpiece center automatically.
It supports multiple centering modes:
✅ External Centering — Outer diameter centering for round stock
✅ Internal Centering — Bore inner hole centering
✅ Single-axis Centering — X or Y axis centering
✅ Dual-axis Centering — XY simultaneous centering
Key parameters for automatic centering:
– X Left/Y Front: Probe positions for external/internal centering
– Safe Z: Safe Z-axis retract height during probing
– Z Bottom: Working height for probing
– Probe R: Probe tip radius (fill in actual value)
– X/Y Dim: Approximate workpiece dimension (external: larger than actual; internal: smaller than actual)
– Probe F: Probing feed rate (default 50)
– X/Y Result: Actual measured dimension after probing
After setting parameters, click the corresponding centering button, the machine will automatically probe, retract to safe Z, move to the center position, and display the actual dimension in X/Y Result. You can set the current position as workpiece zero by clicking X Set 0/Y Set 0.
