I Wanted to LOVE This Laser Engraver, BUT…..(LaserPecker LP5 Review)
This machine was provided for this review by LaserPecker.
I was super excited when LaserPecker reached out and asked me to try their LP5 Smart 20W Fiber + Diode laser engraver. I loved the idea of its portability because my primary laser is a huge enclosed engraver. Most people don’t have space for that size of a laser. Plus, I wanted to test out something that would allow me to engrave on stationary or oversized surfaces.
But I struggled with the software, lack of settings built into the software, and a lack of instructions for how to properly set up the machine’s accessories for getting good results on the first or second attempt. Most of the tests I did needed more tweaking and I found myself getting frustrated with inconsistent results due to user error and lack of instruction.
PROS:
-Easy to physically set up the laser.
-Has an app.
-Has a USB that allows files to process without a computer (just needs the app).
-Portable; the laser head can detach and engrave stationary objects and oversized things.
-Small footprint
CONS:
-Lack of pre-set settings that are accurate, built into the software.
-Software feels cumbersome and has a learning curve to use.
-More tutorials on how to properly set up accessories for successful engraving and cutting.
