A close-up look at the laser-engraved titanium scales for a new custom folding dagger currently in development.
One scale features a Hannya mask with a katana, while the opposite side carries an armored samurai in a kabuto. Waves, rising-sun rays, and cherry blossom elements connect the two sides into a single Japanese-inspired composition.
The color is produced directly by the laser. The blue, white, bronze, and darker tones are created through controlled oxide coloration on the titanium — no paint and no color fill. Several test passes on titanium samples were required before engraving the finished scales to achieve consistent tones.
