5 Things I Wish I knew Before Buying a CNC!
Thinking about buying your first CNC machine? There are a few things I wish I knew before I got started.
In this video, I’m sharing 5 things I wish I knew before buying a CNC — from the hidden costs of bits, wood, dust collection and tools, to learning CNC software, making mistakes, and realizing you definitely don’t need to know everything before you start.
I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way. I’ve ruined wood, damaged bits, cut into my T-track, forgotten tabs and entered the wrong settings. But honestly, making those mistakes is how I learned.
We’ll talk about:
• The REAL cost of owning a CNC
• Bits, dust collection, wood and other tools you’ll need
• Why you’re going to make mistakes — and why that’s okay
• Learning CNC software like Carbide Create and Carbide Motion
• Why starting with simple projects is the best way to learn
• How owning a CNC changes the way you look at things you see in stores
If you’re considering a Shapeoko, Carbide 3D machine, or another CNC router, hopefully my experience can help you know what to expect before jumping into the hobby.
And if you already own a CNC, let me know in the comments:
