Scientists turned a mosquito’s mouth into a microscopic 3D printing nozzle — and it can print structures just a few micrometres wide. 🦟🤯
Using the mosquito’s proboscis, researchers created an ultrafine 3D printing nozzle capable of producing lines as small as around 18 micrometres. But the crazy part is that they didn’t stop with ordinary materials — they used it to print living cells, with around 86% remaining alive after printing.

And this could become interesting for bioprinting and tissue engineering, where scientists are trying to precisely arrange living cells to eventually build functional tissues and, one day, potentially replacement organs.

A mosquito evolved this microscopic structure to feed…
humans just found a completely different use for it.
