The ACCELaser HD1 Ultra Could Change Laser Engraving

I got an up-close look at the ACCELaser HD1 Ultra during the Next Level Maker Conference at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas. I also had the opportunity to talk with the ACCELaser team about this unique dual-laser machine and its Flying 3D Galvo technology.

The ACCELaser HD1 Ultra combines two powerful laser sources in one enclosed system:

• 80W blue diode laser for cutting and engraving wood, leather, cardboard, dark acrylic and other common materials
• 60W JPT MOPA fiber laser for engraving metals, engineering plastics, jewelry and industrial parts
• Flying 3D Galvo system designed to combine galvo speed with a large gantry-style working area
• Advertised engraving speeds up to 4,000 mm/s
• Large working area of approximately 610 × 305 mm
• Z-axis movement for engraving curved, uneven and three-dimensional surfaces
• Dual-camera positioning and LiDAR-assisted focusing
• LightBurn compatibility for Windows and macOS
• Fully enclosed design for a cleaner and safer workflow

The Flying Galvo system is what makes this machine especially interesting. Instead of relying entirely on a heavy engraving head to create every movement, lightweight galvo mirrors rapidly steer the laser beam while the head travels across the larger work area. ACCELaser says this hybrid approach delivers the speed of a galvo machine without being restricted to the smaller working field normally associated with galvo lasers.
