I Put Continuous Carbon Fiber 3D Printing to the Test

I spent a week trying to test continuous carbon fiber 3D printing. I was NOT prepared for the results. Brought to you by FibreSeek. Check out the FibreSeeker 3 pre-sale event here: https://jle.vi/fibreseek

Let’s face it, as useful as 3D printing is, plastic has its limits. Even engineering-grade filaments aren’t exactly known for replacing machined aluminum. But the FibreSeeker 3 uses a technology called Composite Fiber Coextrusion, or CFC, to reinforce 3D printed parts with continuous carbon fiber. And unlike similar technology that could previously cost something like $20,000, this is a desktop carbon fiber 3D printer that costs less than $3,500.

So I spent a week learning and experimenting to try and find out what continuous carbon fiber 3D printing can ACTUALLY do. Along the way, I’ll share how the technology works, where it makes sense (and where it definitely doesn’t), and use it to create some increasingly ambitious functional 3D prints. Eventually, that means trying to tow a 2.5 TON car with a 10mm thick bracket I 3D printed at home. Emphasis on the word “trying” 🫠

If you’ve ever wondered what the strongest 3d printer filament is, or considered whether PPS-CF will be strong enough for your projects, you’re going to love this video. It’s a small taste of what’s possible with continuous carbon fiber 3d printing, but, I think you’ll learn a lot along the way.
