Desktop Storage Designs : Nechiswa

Designer Nechiswa has created a spiral vase pencil holder that explores the visual possibilities of vase-mode 3D printing. Shared as a free download on Printables, the design is produced through a continuous extrusion process in which the printer follows a single uninterrupted path from the base to the top of the object. The resulting form features thin, faceted walls that maintain enough rigidity to hold pens and pencils while emphasizing the layered geometry created during fabrication. Rather than concealing the printing process, the design turns it into a defining aesthetic feature.

The pencil holder is intended for production using vase mode with a 0.6-millimeter line width and 0.2-millimeter layer height. Multi-color filament creates shifting tones across the spiral surface, allowing the appearance of the object to change depending on lighting conditions and viewing angle. The model has gained attention within the maker community and has been added to more than 130 collections on Printables.
