I Bought a Affordable CNC Machine From China… Worth it?
I ordered a CNC machine from China to see if an affordable solution could compete with industrial CNC machines that cost upwards of $40,000. Instead of buying a full system, I decided to build my own CNC plasma table and test whether this setup can actually perform like a professional machine.
In this video, I walk through the full CNC plasma build process — from unboxing the components to fabricating the metal table, assembling the CNC gantry, and getting everything wired and running. If you’ve ever considered building your own CNC machine, CNC plasma cutter, or upgrading your fabrication shop with a more affordable option, this video will show you exactly what to expect.
This project dives into real-world CNC machining, metal fabrication, and shop building. Whether you’re running a machine shop, working with CNC mills and lathes, or just getting started in DIY fabrication, welding, and metalworking, this build highlights the challenges, costs, and performance of a custom CNC plasma table.
I also test the machine to see how it handles plasma cutting steel, accuracy, and overall performance compared to industrial CNC plasma tables. The goal is to find out if this is a smart alternative for fabrication shops, garage workshops, and anyone looking to build or buy a CNC plasma system without overspending.
If this setup performs well, I may build more of these in the future.
