3D printing the official shoe of USA Diving

When you think of diving, shoes probably aren’t the first thing you think of. But now, USA Diving is announcing an Indianapolis startup as its official footwear partner.

Fitasy, founded in 2024 at the 16 Tech Innovation District, specializes in custom-fit, 3D-printed shoes. The open lattice structure of the shoes solves a poolside challenge because they drain water and dry quickly, so divers aren’t wearing soggy, slippery shoes in between dives.

“Divers are in and out of the water so much,” said USA Diving President Lee Michaud. “They’ll walk up to where the boards are, for example, and they’ll drop the shoes, drop whatever they’ve got to drop, do their dive, come back and grab their stuff, put the shoes on and go. It’s just a natural fit. They’re really comfortable. They’re really kind of eye-catching. They’re sort of cutting edge.”
