3D Printing a Boat

This is what 3D printing an entire boat looks like! Can a 3D-printed boat actually float, or will it sink immediately? Using CEAD’s massive robotic arm, this boat is 3D printed in one seamless piece using HDPro—a fiber-reinforced composite that is 10% lighter than fiberglass, completely recyclable, and tough enough to take heavy impacts without shattering. Because it’s printed as a single monolithic hull, there are zero joints or glued seams to cause leaks, and zero molds required. After roughly 88 hours of print time, an outboard motor is mounted, controls are wired, and it’s ready to hit the water!
